With almost 650,000 residents, it’s the largest city in Kansas. It’s also a college town on the border with Oklahoma. It’s also where Pizza Hut and White Castle were founded.
Nav:
Sedgwick County Historical Museum: The museum is in the old City Hall building and covers early Wichita and Sedgwick County history, from about 1860 onward. Exhibits are on four floors and even include a recreated home from the Victorian-era in Kansas.

City Walk: As you may have noticed from the photos above, Carrie Nation (the hatchet wielding prohibitionist) was a Kansas native. She came through Wichita, hatchet in hand, and paid an unkindly visit to the Carey Hotel Bar. She’s immortalized in bronze outside where she entered the hotel.
The Keeper of the Plains is a 44 foot statue on a 30 platform, making it a predominant fixture in the city. The surrounding area has interpretive signage addressing the Plains Indian way of life.
The Wichita Veteran’s Memorial Park is a solemn place dedicated to the major wars since the Revolution and the memory of Kansans who lost their lives in service.
While you’re there, visit the Wichita Troll. It’s located under a grate near a blue and yellow wall.

Nosh:
The Pumphouse: The location was once home to a car service station. The family still owns it but it’s now a place to fill up your stomach, not your car.

Nip:
River City Brewing: For tasty beer along a cobblestone street, check out RCB.
Mort’s Martini Bar: With over 160 martinis on the menu, they have everything from classic, sweet, and savory cocktails. They also have a cigar bar but it’s separate from the cocktail bar so if you’re adverse to smoke, this is a safe place for you.
Pro Tips: Check out their happy hour schedule for half-price martinis. The place is popular…be prepared to wait, especially when they have live music.
