Located in Richmond. This is home to the oldest elected assembly in the United States. Citizens have been electing representation since the House of Burgesses (from Colonial Williamsburg) in 1619. Many of the traditions here (ironically) echo their English counterparts. Thomas Jefferson designed the state house with French inspired architecture.
