Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Site: Where the Confederate Army surrendered to the Union Army, signaling the end of hostilities in the Civil War.
Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park: Battles of the Civil War were spread out across Virginia. This site commemorates a few of those places.
George Washington Birthplace National Monument: It’s the place George was born, not the actual house he was born in.
Jamestown Settlement Colonial National Historical Park: The first English settlement in North America.
Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site: A black woman who owned a bank in segregated America. A success story (and an underrated one).
