The Evergreen State

Capital: Olympia

The 42nd state to join the Union in 1889. It's a hub of modern technology (home to companies like Microsoft).

Grand Coulee Dam: The largest concrete structure in the Western Hemisphere (second largest in the world after the Three Gorges Dam in China).

Washington State Capitol: Located in Olympia, Washington. The building is a tribute to the state itself and the man it's named after, George Washington.

National Park Sites Visited

Mt. Rainier National Park: Technically it’s still an active volcano. The mountain lakes are amazingly clear.

North Cascades National Park: The Cascade Mountains traverse north / south. We protect the south end and the Canadians actually have the north end.

Olympic National Park: Ferns, redwoods, black sand beaches…in all, a very diverse place to check out.

San Juan Islands National Historical Park: The US almost went to war with Canada over a border dispute and a pig.
