The Mount Rushmore State
Capital: Pierre
Mount Rushmore is the state icon. You also have the Black Hills, Custer, and many other reasons to get there and enjoy the great outdoors. The 40th state joined the Union in 1899, under the same act of legislation that admitted their neighbor, North Dakota.
South Dakota State Capitol: Completed in 1910. There is a balance of coziness and grandeur to this capitol.
