This is the launch point to get to Angkor Wat. It's also a fun town with expats and friendly locals. I was there during Sangkranta (or Songkran), the Buddhist new year celebration which I was fortunate enough to experience in Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos. It's a water festival with squirt guns and hoses. A great way to cool off and have fun but symbolizes purification for the new year. In Thailand, people poured ladles of water on Buddha statues.

Nav:

Angkor Wat: A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Originally built as a Hindu temple in the 12th century and later converted to a Buddhist temple. The sunrise over the structure is worth getting up early to see.
Pro Tip: The site is about five miles north of Siem Reap. Hire a driver for the day to take you from Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, and the surrounding temples.

Sangkranta: Buddhist calendar new year celebration. Squirt guns, hoses, buckets, and strangers smearing wet baby powder on your face.

Nosh:

Harry's: There are a lot of places on Pub Street to eat and drink. This one was good.

Nip:

Angkor: The hometown brew.
