Santiago

The city is large and has A LOT of air pollution that blocks views of the nearby Andes mountains. However, there are still some charm to the place, especially the old city center.

Nav:

City Walk: It might be a long day, depending on what you want to see, how you travel around the city, and how long you stay at each site. Here are some of the highlights…

Nosh:

Santiago is not a coastal city but there are lots of fresh seafood options at Mercado Central, where the seafood is fresh.

Another local favorite is the ‘completo’. It’s basically a hot dog with lots (really LOTS) of toppings. This one is the Italian…green guacamole, red tomato, and white mayo to replicate the Italian flag colors.

Nip:

Escudo can be found in any market around town. It’s an easy drinking lager
For something different, try Torobayo or products from Cerveza Austral. These both have a darker profile with some subtle spice notes (think cinnamon or nutmeg).
