The city was established by Mormons crossing from the east. Brigham Young saw the lake (probably not knowing it was salty) and decided to build here.

Major Events: Sundance Film Festival, Utah Blues Festival, Utah Arts Festival

Nav:

Utah State Capitol: The building was completed in 1916. It underwent significant renovations from 2004-2008 to install anti-earthquake footings (an impressive feat of engineering). The artworks display several Mormon events from the founding of the state.

Nosh:

Bohemian Brewery and Grill: A two-fer, where you get a restaurant and brewery. Having been to Oktoberfest in Munich (and a few other 'fest' style events across the world, I'm a fan of Schweinshaxen! That delicious pork knuckle with crispy skin and juicy meat is a crave-worthy entree. This version has gravy, spätzle, and red cabbage. Delicious.

Nip:

Liquor stores in Utah are run by the state. Beer, wine, and hard liquor must be procured from these stores.
Pro Tip: Utah probably want to limit drinking so they sell beers individually, rather than in six-plus packs. This means you can try several beers a la carte instead of committing to one beer six-plus times each.

Bohemian Brewery and Grill: The Cherny Bock was a nice light pairing with a heavy but tasty meal.
