California's capital city. Gold mining in the surrounding hills fueled the growth of the town. The name comes from the Sacramento River that runs through it. The river got its name from Spanish explorer Gabriel Moraga and translates to 'sacrament', the elements of communion. The western end of the Pony Express was here.
Today, its a business center, a tourist point, and a historical hub for the state.

Nav:

California State Capitol: A tribute to the Golden State and its people.

Old Sacramento: The historical part of town built in the 1800's as the mining town took off.

Ace of Spades: A concert venue. The quality of the show depends on the artist (Country music's Nate Smith was great!).
However, the venue is not good. Poorly managed, understaffed (also rude), and you have to pay $100+ for a seat, after you buy a ticket. We waited an hour outside in the rain for the doors to open and had to leave our umbrellas in a trash can at the front. You had to sort through hundreds of umbrellas to have a chance of getting your's back.
Skip this venue and go to a show at Golden 1 Arena or one of the other better managed spaces.

Nosh:

Iron Horse Tavern: Delicious food. Great service. An extensive cocktail and beer list. There is a mix of noshing and nipping going on here.

Mas Tacos: Owned by the same group that owns Iron Horse Tavern...which is next door.

Savory Cafe: A tasty place for breakfast (they are also open for lunch but closed for dinner). Presentation is on point...but so is the flavor!

Sean Finnegan's Pub: Not great food. They don't really have a kitchen...more of a hot plate behind the counter. The place is fine for Irish beer but skip the food. It wasn't good. They do have Guinness, Kilkenny, and Harp on draft.

Nip:

Device Brewing Co.: The beer is 'okay'. The service is 'okay'. Wouldn't be my first pick if I come back to Sac. Curious Haze IPA (kinda flat), Nitro Salted Caramel Porter (didn't taste like salted or caramel at all), Megaku Mandarin DIPA (8.5% with a hint of orange, the best beer sampled), Blood Orange Hard Seltzer (bubbly water with a hint of orange).

Drake's Brewing Co. - The Barn: Great beer. Great service. Great venue (especially in the spring / summer / fall).
