The modern metropolitan capital. A college town. Two million people, making it the second largest city, after Quayaquil.
Nav:
City Walk: The Basilica Voto Nacional is a grand structure with rooftop access for great views.
Walk down the Calle de las Siete Cruces for sites like the Plaza de San Francisco, Iglesia de El Sagrario, the presidential palace, and street performers.

Intinan Museo de Sitio: Visit the equator as a half-day trip. There are multiple markers placed by previous scientific efforts but only one is truly accurate according to GPS technology. The Intinan Museo de Sitio is worth a visit to learn about the science of the equator and get a few good pictures.
Nosh:
Quito Pizza Co: Fugazzetta…no sauce pizza with cheese and onion. Sweet caramelization but very strong onion profile.
Fiambre’s Restaurant: Cuy (aka. guinea pig) is a national delicacy that can be served in whole, half or quarter portions. I find it very fatty and chewy. It would probably be better fried to reduce some of the fat, rather than roasted like this one.

Nip:
Parallel Lobby-Bar: An Ecuadorian lager, a Pilsner, and the Coquito Loco (fancy take on a piña colada).
