Two reasons this park site is aptly named:
1) It's located in Pipestone, Minnesota.
2) It's where over 20 native tribes come to quarry stone to make pipes.

The park isn't large but you can walk by the quarries where the red pipestone comes from. There are exhibits in the visitor center that talk about the stone and the meaning of the pipes to the native peoples who use them. Also, be sure to check out the craftsmen in the back of the visitor center to watch them making pipes, jewelry, and other crafts from the stone (which is available for purchase).
