Located near Holbrook, AZ, this National Park is split in two by the intersecting Interstate 40. The colorful and longer pieces of petrified wood are located in the south, near the Rainbow Forest Museum. The journey north of there is scenic lookouts.
Pro Tip: Depending on your destination, arrive through the south entrance off of US-180. See the petrified wood, then drive out through the north entrance, stopping at lookouts like Blue Mesa on the way. This is a particularly beautiful are when the rain makes the colors pop.
