Elijah Davidson, in 1874, was hunting in the area. His dog took off and he chased after it...you guessed it...into a dark cave. With just six matches, he went five matches in, then miraculously found his way out on the last one. The River Stix flows through the cave, adding to it's lore. The National Monument is located in Cave Junction, Oregon...about 50 miles south of Grants Pass, Oregon.
