Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site: There were several schools represented in the case of segregation in schools, including this one. The US Supreme Court found segregation, even if ‘equal’, was unconstitutional.
Fort Larned National Historic Site: Several forts were established along the frontier in order to protect trade routes. This one was on the Santa Fe trail, which connected Missouri to New Mexico.
Fort Scott National Historic Site: Originally established as a fort on the border with American settlements and Native Indian villages. The site became privatized after the border moved, then became part of the Army again during the Civil War.
