Located in Kailua- Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. This National Historic Park, on the surface, is about fishing. Native Hawaiians built fishponds to essentially produce farm raised fish, rather than having to sail out for wild fish. However, the site (as with many Hawaiian sites) is more about the culture and customs of the people than the specific activity.

The walls of the fishponds separates fresh water from brackish salt water.
Doesn't look like good crop soil so fishing is probably a good choice for this area.
There is short hike along the sandy shore and some of the shady paths between the trees.
