The Hawkeye State
Capital: Des Moines
The 29th state joined the Union in 1846. The state sits between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. It's known as 'First in the Nation' for voting first in presidential primaries since 1972. They produce more corn than Nebraska (the Cornhusker State) and more pork than any other state (did someone say bacon)...no wonder the Iowa State Fair is one of the most popular state fairs in the country.
Iowa State Capitol: This gold domed tribute to the state is beautiful. It's like an art gallery and office all in one. Reminds me of the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. to a fair degree for art.
