This Park, located in the north part of the state in Salt Flats, Texas, protects the highest peak in the state. Guadalupe Peak reaches 8,751 feet. Wait...what?! I thought they said everything was bigger in Texas...Colorado has higher mountains that that. Guess I found the one loophole. Anyway, you can hike up to the peak but it's a difficult 8.4 mile round trip. If you're in decent shape, plan on six to eight hours for completion.
