This National Historical Park is located off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. The first shots of the Civil War were fired here when the South Carolina militia attacked the fort in April 1861. My back was so sore that day I could barely stand up so the photos aren't great...but trust me, it's an important moment in American history and well worth the time / effort to get there.
