The Sunshine State

Capital: Tallahassee

The oldest European settlement in America. Hurricanes. Sunny days. Beaches.

Clearwater Beach: Located on Florida's Gulf Coast. The beaches are beautiful. The waves are gentle. The sand is warm.

Florida State Capitol: This is a two-in-one combo deal. You get the old capitol and the current building, both located at the same site.

Kennedy Space Center: You'll find Space Shuttle Atlantis here. You can also book viewings for SpaceX and Blue Falcon launches separately.

Key West: The southernmost point in the continental US. The so-called Republic of Conch is a place for relaxation, a bit of history, and oh, relaxation.

St. Augustine: The oldest European settlement in the United States.

National Park Sites Visited

Big Cypress National Preserve: Alligators, hiking, humidity...Florida.

Castillo de San Marcos National Monument: The oldest masonry fortification in the continental US. Made from coquina shells.

Dry Tortugas National Park: A few hours by boat off the coast of Key West. This is an impressive fort, especially considering everything, including water, had to be imported.

Everglades National Park: Like Big Cypress, this place has gators (without fences) and birds, and a trolley if you don't care to walk!

Fort Matanzas National Memorial: Basically the little brother to Castillo de San Marcos.
