Capital of Northern Territory. This is a small city but has a big military history. Located along the north coast, it was subject to battles in the Pacific and served as a location for storing fuel following the attack on the US Navy at Pearl Harbor. Though Charles Darwin did visit several locations in Australia, he never visited the city which took his name in 1911.

Nav:

Bicentennial Park / USS Peary Memorial: The park is mostly grass and trees but still a nice walk. The USS Peary Memorial is located in the park. On February 19, 1942, Darwin was attacked by 242 Japanese aircraft. 91 men about the USS Peary were killed or trapped onboard as the ship was directly hit by enemy bombs and sunk. USAAF 2nd Lt. Robert J. Buel was also shot down providing safety for an allied convoy in the area on February 15, 1942.

Darwin Waterfront Park: There's a waterpark, scenic views, and a small beach.

Darwin Museum Underground WWII Oil Storage Tunnels: Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, oil reserves were moved into tunnels in Darwin for safety from enemy bombs.

Nosh:

Six Tanks Brew Pub: Time for a burger. This one had a thin slice of ham instead of bacon. Vibe of the place was cool, even though I was there on an off-time.

Be a local and shop at a grocery store: Lots of gems to be found...these massive onions and canned delicacies are just a few!
