This National Monument is located in Arco, Idaho...the first city powered by atomic energy. Outside of the city is the location of the first nuclear meltdown, the EBR-I.
The site is home to some lava flows, but no volcano. Fissures in the Earth's crust opened and lava came out. The result is a rugged terrain with a bunch of lava rocks. So what does it have to do with the moon?! Nothing, sort of. Locals said the place looked like moon craters. Apollo 14 astronauts studied geology here in preparation for their trip to the moon.
