Capital: Denver

The Centennial State

Color-ado. White in the winter and offering great skiing. Blooming in the summer and offering great hiking and mountain biking. Yellow / orange in the fall with the changing of the aspens. Green all year...as the first state to legalize marijuana.
Named the Centennial State because it was the 38th to join the Union in 1876, 100 years after the forming of the country.

Durango: A college town that has an eclectic mix of people from kids to retirees. It's a small mountain town but draws a lot of visitors, especially in the winter.

National Park Sites Visited

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park: Sort of a mini Grand Canyon. Carved by the Gunnison River at the bottom of the canyon.

Colorado National Monument: Reminds me of a small scale of the sites you'd see in Utah's National Parks, like Zion and Bryce Canyon.

Great Sand Dunes National Park: The highest sand dunes in North America.

Mesa Verde National Park: Iconic cliff dwellings of the Pueblo Indians.
