Located just south of Tampa on the Gulf Coast. Sunny beaches. Warm water. Fishing ventures.

Nav:

Water Cruise: Whatever you want to do, they have it...sightseeing, fishing, a booze cruise. I opted for a smaller vessel sightseeing cruise down the Clearwater Harbor. The Gulf surf wasn't bad but this is easy sailing...and the restaurants have piers if you want to pull off for lunch.

Clearwater Pier / Beach: I mean, it is named Clearwater Beach after all. The white sand beach is soft, the water is warm, and the waves are gentle. If you don't bring your own, you can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach.

City Walk: It's mostly restaurants and shops. Oddly, there are several 'surf shops' but I didn't find a single surfboard. The waves are so gently you might have trouble body boarding. As you walk around, you can find dolphin sculptures. Businesses commission them and post them outside their businesses.

Nosh:

The Conch Republic Grill: Jalapeño crusted chicken with mashed potatoes. It was quite good. The crust was perfectly crisp without being crunchy. Spice was mild but flavorful. I know, it's the Conch Republic and I didn't get conch...I was in Clearwater, not Key West...so there 😜

Charley's Steakhouse: If you're feeling fancy, this is the place to go. It's actually in Tampa but easily accessible from Clearwater Beach by car. Perfectly cooked steaks. The sides are served family style.

Nip:

Crabby's Dockside: Strawberry lemonade...for adults cause there's vodka. Refreshing on a hot day and not too sweet...maybe because there's vodka 😂

Frenchy's: What is a trip to the beach without a frozen cocktail, like a piña colada?! Apparently Frenchy's is a Clearwater institution. People I know who've been coming here for 40 years told me about it. Nothing too fancy but the food and drinks are good. I wasn't planning to eat but the Shrimp Diablo sounded good...Shrimp in a spicy blue cheese sauce with sun dried tomatoes and fresh jalapeño. It was really spicy but tasted so good I finished it all...glad I had that piña colada handy!
