Not a lot in Chiang Rai but the architecture of the Blue Temple and White Temple were worth a stop over from Chiang Mai.

Nav:

Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple): Completed in 2016, this is a newer temple that replaced the old one on the site. The vibrant blue and gold continue on the inside and surrounding sculptures.

Wat Rong Khun (White Temple): The previous temple on this site was unsalvageable and replaced with this one in 1997. A local artist, Chalermchai Kositpipat, designed and built the temple. The main building has mirrored glass embedded so it really glimmers in the sun.

Nosh:

O'Kane's Irish Pub: Billed as the first Irish pub in Chiang Rai (maybe the only one). Food was alright and a nice change from traditional Thai cuisine.

Nip:

Kilkenny and Guiness are on draft at O'Kanes Irish Pub. There is a Bavarian Beer Bar in town, which looked interesting but I didn't go in.
