Aztec, New Mexico is in the northwest corner of the state, about 45 minutes south of Durango, Colorado. This National Monument preserves a 400 room masonry structure built by Pueblo Indians. The site is considered home for several tribes in their migrations. A reconstructed Great Kiva is the highlight, a ceremonial room.
